Growing an Avocado Tree

Bella grew an avocado tree from a pit.  After a few months it was well time to transplant it into a pot.

We had purchased an adorable little painted pot from an Etsy shop with the intention of using it when the seed was ready to transplant.

We radically miscalculated how large the seed would grow in just water alone.  So when it came time to transplant the seed it was clear we needed a bigger pot.

We purchased a larger pot from our local Armstrong’s Garden Center.

With space to grow we intend to keep it indoors until it is hearty enough to transplant outside… but even this pot is beginning to look a tad too small.

I told Bella how much it reminded me of her infancy. I bought so many adorable little baby clothes while I was still pregnant with her. Knowing I wouldn’t get many months out of them – still I could not pass up those teensy outfits!

Then surprise! Bella emerged 13 days past her due date weighing 9lbs, 4oz. And never fit into a single 0 – 3 month item!

And isn’t that just the way life goes? We think things will fit neatly where we want them to… miscalculate time and again in marvelously innocent but ultimately ludicrous ways.

For anyone raising a diverse learner, you will have run through many pots by now… none of them seeming to fit quite perfectly. My unique child with her fantastic mind will not be housed in restrictive vessels.

Both still growing.

Our children are more like magic beans. Even the sky is not the limit and it is you who will really grow when you finally abandon your notions to accept that their growth will be anything but ordinary.
