Vincent Lugo Park

A rainy day at an iconic playground.

Vincent Lugo Park is located at 300 West Wells St., San Gabriel, CA 91776. This whimsical park was built in 1965 and has been designated as a historic landmark. It’s delightfully old-school with structures that would definitely not pass code today. Tall, concrete creatures reminiscent of wilder childhood days.

On the day we visited, it was lightly raining… and that was enough to keep SoCal folks away. So Bella had the entire park to herself. She probably would have had more fun with other children chasing about, but it was dreamy for taking pictures… and definitely well worth the trip!

Do you stay inside on rainy days? My puddle-lover would advise against it. Perhaps living where it rains infrequently has caused our true romance with chances to engage umbrellas, slickers and wellington boots. There are good times to be had under gray skies and opportunities to look for rainbows.
